Celebrating British Textile Manufacturing

Country Mouse is proud to support the British Textile industry, by sourcing our wool throw, knitwear and alpaca socks from the UK we know exactly where our products are designed and made. We don’t know which sheep your throw of jumper has come from or which alpaca was used to make your socks but we do know where and how they were made.

I have grown up with first hand knowledge of how important British manufacturing is and Britain is so good at it.

My Dad was an engineer and used to make precision tools and parts for aircraft, before he retired. When I think back to the little factory that he worked out of, it gives me pleasure, to think that by sourcing from small mills I'm continuing to support British manufacturing and everything that goes into that.

British women's jumpers
The lambswool jumpers that I recently launched are made in Scotland from pure lambswool. These jumpers have been spun from luxuriously soft lambswool in Scotland and the mill which I buy them from control the entire manufacturing process from raw wool to finished product. The high quality and attention to detail in each jumper oozes history and craftsmanship honed over centuries. The quarter zip neck has and ribbed cuffs and hem, so that they fit and move with you. The softness of the wool ensures that they aren’t itchy against the skin.

British made wool throws
Our collection of lovely merino wool throws and our Shetland wool throws are made in a historic mill in Yorkshire. Again, the mill controls every aspect of the manufacturing process from raw wool, dying, spinning to finished product. When you purchase a merino or Shetland throw you are buying a product which has history and tradition woven into it.

British made alpaca socks

Our alpaca socks are manufactured in the Midlands by family owned business which has been manufacturing socks for over 120 years.

So it gives me great pleasure to think how much Country Mouse has brought together some lovely collections of wool throws, jumpers and alpaca socks, while supporting manufacturing in the UK.
