Wool throws at Country Mouse

I chose to specialise in gorgeous wool throws as I absolutely adore wool and I just love helping my customers to find the perfect wool throw or wool blanket for their home. Country Mouse grew over several years and in 2019 I was selling wool throws at big country shows such as the Royal Welsh with 250,000 visitors and I ran a chalet at Salisbury Christmas market. After covid hit in 2020, the show season came to a crashing end and I had to rebuild my business. This saw country mouse selling wool throws and blankets online.

Our trading year was basically from March through to December, taking January, February off due to the weather. So you can imagine when lock down hit in Spring 2020, it had a massive impact on the business, as I was unable to restart the shows that year.

I had been planning to create the website so that I could trade in January and February online and lockdown just gave me the push and the time to achieve that.

Having finally got the website up and running in March 2020, we were thrown a lifeline in May 2020 when the Country Living Magazine ran a virtual weekend promoting small businesses online. That weekend and the subsequent summer and Christmas virtual events gave me the boost I needed and for the rest of 2020. Since then I’ve been working hard to learn about social media marketing, photographing wool throws and promoting the business online within the constraints of lockdown.

Lockdown has continued into 2021 and my plans for the website include improving the photography even more with lifestyle shots of the throws. I really appreciate all of the support and feedback that I have received over the last 11 months.

My love of wool throws and blankets is ongoing and I absolutely love to find new designs and wools to stock in my online shop.
